Cotton... Conventional or Organic Cotton?

Both Conventional and organic cotton are natural fabrics - renewable source.
Why do we prefer ORGANIC COTTON?
What are the differences?
Conventional cotton uses GMO seeds (Genetically modified organism) and the cotton seeds are treated using potentially harmful insecticides and fungicides to start with. ORGANIC cotton does not use GMO and their seeds untreated. GMO seeds are harmful for the insects and wild life. It is an eco-balance distraction.
Soil quality is the most important factor in Farming, we would think so... but Conventional farmers use synthetic fertilisers (petroleum products) and prefer mono-crop culture. Where as organic cotton farmers work on building strong soil through well monitored crop rotation, intercropping, composting preserve, retain and maintain water (including rain water) more efficiently with the additional organic matter within the soil.
Weeding: Conventional cotton production uses chemicals in the form of herbicides that kill weeds, which effects the quality of crops and suck out moisture and nutrients from the soil and harm the farmers. These include highly toxic insecticides and carcinagens - Top 5 commonly used chemicals include: Malathion, Aldicarb, Parathion, Acephate, Methamidophos
Weeding in Organic cotton is done by hand, hoeing and different cultivation processes. organic cotten farming uses soil balance, trap crops, and benefical insects to manage pests.

Harvesting: for the harvesting of conventional cotton toxic chemicals used to defoliate the cotton plants. Organic cotton defoliation relies on the seasonal freeze or can also be defoliated through water management.
Organic cotton (as for Prancing Leopard fabrics) uses water based organic dyes, and avoid unnecessary chemical finishes. The peaching affect, we use for our signature fabric is mechanical and without harmful chemicals.
