Couldn't agree more @ReedMorano - IT IS HARD TO BECOME WHAT YOU DO NOT SEE. I am endlessly inspired by the female directors I have worked with along the way, they gave me confirmation that I too could join the ranks. It was incredible to stand next to @MaggieBetts last fall, promoting Novitiate, knowing how hard she had worked to make the film we were so proud of. And before her, @_NataliaLeite_ with our movie Bare and Moira Stephens with Zipper. On top of that, watching talented friends do it time and time again like @ReedMorano, @OliviaWilde and @NoraMKirkpatrick. ------------------------------------- I started making movies of my friends in high school with funny old school video cameras, then I'd edit them on my computer. Three years ago, I had a fifteen person crew when we shot this short film in Paris starring the glorious @MargaretQualley. A special shout out to Jesse Brunt, my DP for our film, pictured here, above. Last October, that crew number tripled in size when I directed Luke Wilson in Berlin, I Love You. Luke, like Margaret was unbelievably game to play. Our wonderful DP @kolja_dp and I knew we had to work quickly and he never faltered. I was proud to be given the opportunity to work with such exceptional talent on all sides of the camera. ------------------------------------------------ So, after noticing this tag #femalefilmmakerfriday going around, I had to mention that I feel incredibly lucky to say that this high school hobby became something more than I could have imagined. Acting seemed feasible, directing did not. A big thank you to all the female filmmakers that inspire me every day. ♥️
