Monitoring solar activity to defend us against devastating particle storms … The European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association (EISCAT) operates radar systems to study the interaction between the sun and Earth as revealed by disturbances in the ionosphere and magnetosphere. The system has also been tested for space debris tracking of low-Earth-orbit debris down to 2cm in size.
