Six years ago Ava was found at a horse auction, scared and pregnant with her filly Jess by her side. Both mother and daughter were sent to auction in poor health with very little training; the odds they were going to get purchased were slim and they were almost destined for slaughter. Fortunately, Rosemary Farm Sanctuary stepped in and rescued them. Ava’s recovery proceeded little by little. She lost her pregnancy, which is common due to the stress pregnant mares endure at auction, and she was understandably angry and unruly. However with time her anger waned, her health increased and Ava became a vibrant spitfire. She has even started training under saddle.
