And in 1850, 32 years after our founding, the Brooks Brothers painted it above our shop door to tell the world what could be found inside. Did you know that chivalry and romance also played a role in our emblem’s origin? It began in the 1400s when Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, married Isabella, Princess of Portugal, and founded a knighthood in her honor. The knights’ symbol?
