This lovely blue-eyed Chloe’ model was sitting outside the dressing rooms prior to going on the runway at a Paris fashion show in 1988. National Geographic was planning to do an all-France issue in July of 1989 in honor of the country’s 200 anniversary of the French Revolution and when they announced their plans I asked if I could do something about Paris and the fashion world. I spent far more time in the various designers’ dressing rooms than out along the runways because it was so much more interesting. I was given wonderful access. I came to think of my dressing room surroundings and its inhabitants as a rage of beauty from which I doubted I would ever tire.
