Osechi-ryori are Japanese New Year's dishes that are specially prepared to be eaten during the first three days of January. Most dishes in osechi-ryori are cooked in order to be preserved for at least three days. This is because it was believed that Toshigami (kami celebrated at the beginning of New Year) comes and stay in our house in first three days of January and we should not use kitchen during Toshigami's stay.
