“I’m not a center-of-attention guy,” says Carlos Saint John, the Brooklyn-based rapper better known by his erratically capitalized stage name SAINt JHN. “Although I know that’s a strange thing to say coming from a guy who wears Saint Laurent boots all the time.” Following stints as a model and a songwriter for the likes of Usher, Joey Badass, and Jidenna, he is now stepping out on his own with Collection One, an emotional, self-released album of airy, intricate raps.
