Bright and early this morning, three people arrived at their new home 250 miles above Earth. NASA’s Scott Tingle, Anton Shkaplerov of the Russian space agency Roscosmos and Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency joined the three crewmates already living and working on the International Space Station, bringing the total humans on orbit to six. After a two-day journey, the hatches between the Soyuz spacecraft and the orbiting laboratory officially opened at 5:55 a.m. EST. This comes after their 2:21 a.m. launch on Sunday, Dec. 17 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Swipe to see the awesome images of their liftoff!
