I’m not going to feed you a list of “important” albums you’ve been inundated with all year long via the Hypebeasts and Complexes of the world. Where an album being good/important is sometimes merely because it generates clicks. And please don’t take that to mean that if an album is popular and has serious capital behind it, that it isn’t very good. That most certainly is not the case. A fair amount of the albums championed across some of the widely recognized platforms are indeed quite good, not all… but still enough that are deserving. The point is that you don’t need another year end list telling you how great SZA’s “CTRL" is (it’s really great). Or that Lil B’s "Black Ken" was Lil B at his finest. YOU KNOW THIS. I also doubt many (if any of you) haven’t listened and formed your own opinions on “DAMN." And I don’t feel like I need too steer any of you towards Peep’s (RIP) direction… same goes for Kehlani, Tyler, Uzi, Vince Staples, etc, etc. You get the picture (Hopefully?). This list is meant too serve the same function the #Bloglin once served… a spotlight on things that should get more praise and exposure than they’ve received. Especially at year-end list time. This is a list of 12 records (in no particular order) I specifically hand picked for you guys (with some help from @killyourgod) that I feel a lot of you (not all of you) may not have had the pleasure of hearing yet. It’s also a list of 12 releases by artists I think a lot of you would really greatly enjoy. If i can get one of you ( and we can do better than one!) to become a fan of any release listed here… I’m calling that a success. So go track these down in whatever way you consume music and don’t trust anyone over 30 (expect me). Leave your takes down below and make ‘em spicy. - @mypalthecrook
