"Some of the toughest mountains on earth are ones most people have never heard of: Masherbrum, at 7821 meters (25,659 feet) tall, is the 22nd highest mountain in the world, and has only three recorded ascents since it was first climbed in 1960." Words and photo by @freddiewilkinson from a recent trip to the Siachen Glacer conflict - a disputed border region high in the Karakoram Mountains right where China, Pakistan, and India all come together. "Our travels took us to military positions up to 18,000 feet above sea level and allowed us to experience what life is like for the men who serve in the highest war zone on planet Earth. By telling their story, we hope we can spark a new dialogue that may allow India and Pakistan to find the political space to explore a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and leave these beautiful mountains to the next generation of climbers.”
