As a little girl, Bo would follow her dad, a general contractor, around construction sites. She was fascinated with the idea of being able to design and build. Then, in college, Bo fell in love with the city of Detroit as she explored the neighborhoods by bike.
In an effort to help recycle the abundance of discarded wood found in local illegal dump sites, Bo and her partner Kyle launched their own company, Woodward Throwbacks. They make weekly runs to find discarded materials that are calling out for new life, sand and de-splinter everything in hopes of keeping it as organic as possible, then turn these collected odds and ends into array of household items. Some are covered in funny sayings, others show a bit of hometown pride. There’s something for everyone in their collection.
