More and more, parenting seems to be about keeping your kids in the dark about the real horrors of the world as long as possible. This week, I wrote about what it was like to trick or treat in NYC right after we learned about the terrorist attack (that link is in my bio). Today, the adults whispered about the church shooting in Texas while our kids played in the yard. Barely a month ago, Vegas. These things happen so frequently, there is not enough time to process anything between them. I'm scared about what our country is becoming. I'm horrified by the depths of evil that exist— both by those without power and by those with all of it. How will we ever explain this to our children?
