Link in bio. “I was working with the International Red Cross at the time, in the Congo, and had requested to be dropped off for a few days at Kiubo Falls. I had read that it was an old tourist site, mentioned as one of the most beautiful falls in the Congo. The Red Cross agreed to drop me off and said that there was an Australian supervising the area now and that he would have accommodation. I found the Australian near the falls. He was living there with his wife and a lot of monkeys in sort of a tent camp. He had no guest room, but offered me a concrete box big enough to hold a mattress. It had no windows and was very hot inside. He advised me not to leave at night because huge snakes went hunting around the falls at night. I found a plastic water bottle I could use as a toilet. When I woke up and opened the iron door of my box I saw a huge snake trail in front of the door. The Australian said his workers had seen a giant boa in the bushes and were chasing it now because that kind of snake could possibly kill a worker. So, when the man in this picture told me not to go near the falls because of the many snakes, I was not very happy. I did make it though, jumping from rock to rock, and did not see any snakes.” PHOTO: Kiubo Falls, Democratic Republic of the Congo. 2008. © @carldekeyzer/#MagnumPhotos #CarlDeKeyzer #MagnumPhotos70
