In Mesa Verde National Park, we were hit by a massive thunderstorm complete with hail, but after it passed, the sun popped out and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow as the last rays of the sun lit the rim of the canyon and lit up the dramatic clouds and sheets of rain. For landscape photography, I like to use a tripod whenever I possibly can. It not only allows you to stabilize the camera for long exposures, but especially helps you take more care with your composition.
