This magical day was one year ago today. It felt like I got to enter another world even if just for a short while.
Buckingham palace is breathtaking. Elaborate, bold and impressive. I’d never really stopped to consider what it would be like to go to the palace and meet a member of the royal family. I guess I never thought it would happen. After being ushered around through majestic hallways and ornate galleries in a calm, orderly fashion by jolly members of the Royal Household I found myself stood in line awaiting my turn to receive honours. I watched Princess Anne greeting each individual with a sincere smile and genuine delight. The princess gave each person her undivided attention, seemingly putting them at ease with her calm, gracious manner. Despite this I still didn’t expect her to talk to me. I mean what would the princess and myself have to chat about. I couldn’t help but wonder. However, as I got closer to the front of the queue my curiosity faded and was replaced by nerves. It was just moments before I had to perform my first ever public curtsy. And in heels too. Eek. Unfortunately my curtsy wasn’t the best, in fact it was pretty appalling. Thankfully she didn’t mention it. Instead she told me about when she went climbing in Wales, we chatted about the weather, she congratulated me on my achievements and then she complimented my hair. I left feeling like the princess and I could be great friends. Be sure to let me know if you ever fancy going Climbing again Princess Anne!
