For his next act, the British countertenor Iestyn Davies hits New York, returning to the Metropolitan Opera and making his first appearance on Broadway. In our interview, he tells @Wall Street Journal that he sees opera as spiritual, comparing the stage to an altar and the conductor to a high priest. “It’s very Catholic in that sense, and you can’t force people to go to it.” He says his job is to just perform the best he can. “If what we put on stage is very good and very high-end in terms of quality, then at least we can say we’ve done our bit.” Read more at the link in our bio. ⠀
