Today we launch a Kickstarter campaign for the "Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap," a landmark collection of music, stunning visuals and powerful stories, produced by our @NMAAHC and @SmithsonianFolkways. ?
The box set will include nine CDs (with more than 120 tracks), a 300-page coffee-table book with essays, extensive track liner notes, and never-before-seen photographs and designs.
The anthology traces the evolution of hip-hop from its early days in the late 1970s to today. It tells the complex history of this multifaceted genre, including its many social and political implications, and its influence on popular culture.
