'Hidden within The Meteor structure, is a replica of a set piece from the classic Stanley Kubrick film, 2001: A Space Odyssey. We enter visually into this secret chamber, a window into a parallel universe revealing a scene that is at once familiar and jarring. The title of this work, The Barmecide Feast, is derived from a story in the Arabian Nights, in which a Sultan invites his guests to a feast where no food is actually served: the guests must imagine the feast and pretend to revel in it.
