Design adapted from @mananails ? As we become increasingly connected in this age of social media, we are exposed to so many influences that it sometimes becomes difficult to keep track of where we first saw an interesting idea. Even when we think we've created something original, it's probably triggered by something that got stuck in our subconscious mind after having seen it somewhere. I keep telling myself to set aside time to explore interesting places so I can get inspired by other art forms (graffitti, tapestry, sculptures, nature, etc) and create something more original, but it's easier said than done. It will certainly have to be one of my 2018 resolutions ? When crediting other nailists, I use these different terms in order to express different levels of original input: 1. "Design from xx" - pretty much zero original input, possibly just a change in colour or just shifting designs from this nail to that nail 2. "Design adapted from xx" - some original input, such as adding details to fit the size of the nail (in this case, it was a hand design which I had to convert to a foot design, so I had more room to fill), or starting with two different designs and turning them into ten different designs (same style, but different details). 3. "Design inspired by xx" - usually a lot more original input, such that the result looks quite different from the reference design. Sometimes seeing a refreshing idea inspires me to do research on the same concept to find non-nail images to convert into a new nail design and pairing it with different fillers. Ok, back to work!
