My dad, (@dougladzinski) one of the greatest influences in my life. He taught me to work hard, be humble, roll with the punches and showed me the beauty of the outdoors. When I was a kid, he and my mom made the bold decision to move from New Jersey, bringing my brother, sister and I to Colorado- leaving behind job security and extended family all in the pursuit of raising their family in the mountains. I was only 2 years old, really too young to remember. What I do remember however is my dad working tirelessly to see this dream through, 3 jobs for the first few years as we found our footing. Everyday, regardless of how tired he was after a long shift at work my dad would come home and ask us with excitement in his voice “Where should we go?” The answer was always “fishing!” or “hiking!” or something outdoor related. He always brought a camera on our outings, his Nikon F1 and would take photos of us as we played. I bought my first camera when I was 18 and my dad showed me how to use it, passing his infection for taking pictures along to me. Here he is today, on a trip to Iceland he joined me on, lost in composition in the mossy green lava fields. It’s been a great week touring around the country watching him light up with excitement and sharing this experience with him. ??
