Mama, because I was a nervous wreck, even though it was written right on the paper in my hand, i couldn't say the words I needed to say to you because I basically blacked out standing up. I had planned to say how lucky I am to have a Mom that has believed in my unorthodox film dreams unconditionally without wavering EVER in her support of my goals. Even when everyone else asked you on a weekly basis from about 1997 to 2009 "When is Reed gonna get a real job?" -- you were a fierce believer in my dreams. And even when I was a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory, and after my lunch shift I would do happy hour karaoke in private room in a Koreatown shopping mall every day you still believed I would make a living at this.
