This August I became a screenwriter of a reality show? And even though I have completed the scriptwriting courses, I felt the need of reading a lot of professional literature? #nerd There were no books directly related to the reality-show-type of scripts, but I found a lot of books that were very useful for my future detective and fantasy scripts? I think sharing these books will be interesting for a lot of my friends: ?I loved «Screenplay: the foundation of screenwriting» by Syd Field. You’ve probably heard a lot about this one?I think it’s the best to start with! It was my first book, too, and I admired it a lot, because it teaches you the principles and the main rules of writing a good script? ?«The writer’s journey» by Christopher Vogler. This book is for people that work on scripts regularly.?I loved that Vogler doesn't tell to obey the rules, but thinks that only your own experience and preferences will make the story unique and will help you to create you own style of writing, which will be easily recognized later on?? ?Another book that I find very useful is “Psychology for screenwriters” by William Indick? The way the author describes the theory of each type of personality, makes you understand everything about your characters: from their behavior till their diet?Plus, Indick gives a lot of examples for each type of personality and their relationship with the world from the classical movies ? I still have couple of chapters left, but I really enjoy it?
