?Two screaming hairy armadillo pups were born at the Small Mammal House! These are the first pups ever born at the Zoo and we’re screaming with excitement! The pups will be on exhibit when they are little bigger and have acclimated to their enclosure. Screaming hairy armadillos get their names from the squealing noise they make when threatened and large amount of hair they have compared to other armadillo species. Adults are less than 2 pounds when fully grown, making screaming hairy armadillos the smallest hairy armadillo species. #WeSaveSpecies
