Yesterday, we lost one of the greatest ironman to walk the earth. It's a loss that words can not describe. He was a great competitor, friend, Dad and husband. Deano and his brother Darren were two athletes I truly admired and looked up to. I always loved racing Deano in open water events. I always knew it was him beside me as he had a stroke rate of about 70! For perspective, normal is around 37. That just reflected the grit and tenacity of his deep competitive nature. Sadly, Deano has 4 young boys - Brayden 13, Rory 11, Lachlan 9 & Joshua 6 that will need plenty of support from the community to get through this unbelievably difficult period.
