I get a lot of comments in my Stories about how rad my kids are and questions on how I get them to do chores. Here's the thing. They are rad. That's nature, they kinda came to me with built-in coolness. Doing chores? That's nurture. And most of the time we suck at chores. All of us. You can see that my youngest in this photo is pretty ticked at me for making him finish weeding today. Like it was fun for me to do it that long with him! (Hint: it wasn't.) ?
Some people will probably think my kids are lazy and some may think I make my kids work too hard. I have no control over what people think. What I do have control over is our family and if WE think we are doing enough and working hard (we rarely meet our own expectations and goals). ?
I strongly believe that I am not meant to make my kids' lives easy and pain-free. My whole goal is to make sure that by the time they leave our house as adults that they are capable of working hard, providing for themselves, and being GOOD people. ?
It is my job to let them know that they are loved and accepted and important. But not to do everything for them and make their lives amazing. That's up to them. ❤️
So if you or your child come over—especially on Saturday—expect to fill a pail with weeds or pick up the dog poop. And then come inside with us to watch a movie, play a game, and eat some treats. #kidsaretheworst and this is why @annaistheworst
