Photo by @drewtrush // On Monday, the federal government removed endangered species protections for the grizzly bears inhabiting the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in the lower 48 states in the U.S. The individual states of Montana. Idaho, and Wyoming will be given the authority to manage their respective grizzly populations. Endangered Species protections were lifted briefly once before in 2009, but quickly restored after a federal judge overturned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to remove the bears from the Endangered Species list.
