@theheroesproject: She did it!!!! On July 25th at 3:00 PM WIT, after a 12 hour summit push, including another storm that came in full force while the team navigated the summit ridge, Kirstie Ennis became the first female US veteran above the knee amputee to summit what is considered to be the most technical of the 7 summits.
After the celebrations and pictures ended on the summit, the team had to get down ASAP - the descent turned into a very long return back to high camp.
Currently the team is safe at base camp, and when the weather breaks, they will be on the first helicopter off the mountain to Timika, Western Papua, then hopefully get on a plane to sunny Bali. #KirstieConquersCarstensz
