#tbt to age 25, season one of @girlshbo, when I was the only woman on a panel about indie film at Lincoln Center, where this picture still hangs. I'd been shooting til 4am the night before and (still living with my parents) grabbed my mother's cardigan. Wearing her clothes always makes me feel strong, not least of all because she's spent her life fighting for women to be able to make modern art the way I hope to fight for women in Hollywood. On that panel, someone asked why there aren't more female directors and a male producer started to answer the question. I pointed and said "I think he just showed you."
