I'm working on a worldwide jaguar story for @ナショナルジオグラフィック (catch it in the December 2017 issue) and much of my time has been spent in the Brazilian Pantanal with @bertiegregory. Jaguars here are incredibly relaxed and can often be seen along the riverbank and even like this young cub, in trees! This cub would climb up the tree to avoid the wild peccaries below!

Big cats like this jaguar are important for the healthy functioning of ecosystems and they regulate prey densities which can have impacts on vegetation and soil - so by keeping jaguars healthy we can keep the whole ecosystem healthy!
