In 1966 Charis McKittrick and George Schwarz rode their treasured 1965 BMW R50 model 500cc motorcycle from their home in Spain to Victoria to marry in front of family.⠀

Travelling through France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, West Pakistan, India, Malaysia and Singapore, they saved money by avoiding toll roads, sleeping rough and on occasion eating fresh roadkill. ⠀

For the ceremony, Charis wore her mother’s 1937 silk wedding dress with a white mirrored wedding hat purchased in Pakistan. ⠀
