Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said he was “sickened” after a gunman, who he said "apparently volunteered" on his presidential campaign, opened fire on Republican lawmakers during a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., on Wednesday. “I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms,” Sanders added. “Real change can only come about through nonviolent action, and anything else runs against our most deeply held American values.” The rampage sent five people to the hospital, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
