@natgeo @stevewinterphoto Remote camera traps are one of my most important pieces of equipment when I am on assignment photographing big cats for National Geographic Magazine. But it's not just big cats that my camera traps capture! Here are just six images out of two months of camera trapping in South Africa's Timbavati Game Reserve in November and December of 2014. African wild cat, leopard, white rhinoceros, spotted hyena, scrub hare, steenbok and even a civet all broke the transmitter beam to take their awesome selfies! These images were taken on assignment for my @natgeo worldwide leopard story (December 2015). The Timbavati is an important refuge for species like these and is a part of the greater Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa. This camera trap was set with @alexbraczkowski and @bertiegregory. We need to find pragmatic solutions to save these species, and in most parts of Africa they are all affected by wire snare poaching and bushmeat, habitat loss and conflict with people (especially livestock farmers). By increasing protection, anti poaching patrols, building stronger fences and having intel on the ground wildlife can make a comeback! Look out for more awesome images like this from me and don't forget to follow me @stevewinterphoto and thanks! @stevewinterphoto @natgeo @nglive @reddigitalcinema #instagood #instawild #wildlifeaddicts #wildlife #animallovers #wildlifelovers #leopard #lookingforleopards #nglive @natgeochannel @natgeowild @thephotosociety @natgeocreative #fursforlife #BCI#bigcatsintiative#startwith1thing@pantheracats @pantanalsafaris#canonusa #redcine @africanparksnetwork
