Every June 5 has been dubbed by the United Nation "World Environment Day", on which worldwide awareness and action for the protection of environment are observed annually on a global scale. In 2017, the theme for World Environment Day is "Connecting People to Nature", a concept behind which is to remind mankind of our being parts of this world, and that the environment are vital to our lives as well as ways of life; hence, not a subject to be taken for granted.

As the national carrier, THAI is dedicated to actively promoting environmental conservation through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives under the umbrella of THAI's "Travel Green" concept, with emphasis on climate change, sustainable material management, sustainable use of resources, as well as biodiversity and ecosystem services. Taking into account the environmental impact of aviation business operations and company activities, THAI has focused on improving efficient use of raw materials, energy, and water resources in order to better manage their impact on the environment.

To add to our green efforts, THAI's newest aircraft types also serve to reduce carbon footprint. This year, THAI will be taking delivery of five A350-900 XWB aircraft and two 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Boasting state-of-the-art designs complete with maximum comfort, both these aircraft types are also made of composite materials which are lighter in weight, thereby consuming less fuel and releasing less carbon dioxide.
