The amount of volume I've been doing has been rough. Very rough. I've had to come in every day with a specific number in mind that I want to get to because even the first sets feel like "oh shit I dunno if I'm gonna make this one". So I almost have to trick myself into putting more weight on the bar or doing another set because my brain does NOT want that. Here's a Lil story about mental toughness: this morning I wasn't even going to train. Getting out of bed was a mission in itself. I felt (feel) like a trash can. But one of the most important parts of elite training (or any training) is knowing the difference between WANTING to rest and NEEDING to rest. This morning I wanted to rest, especially after last nights training. But my body was fully capable of training and I knew that. I had 10's again (surprise) and a few sets of 8 at the end. I wanted 130kg/286lbs x 8 for my last set. My brain told me no way in hell its happening after the first sets of 10, but it ended up on the bar anyway. 130kg/286lbs x 7.5 was the outcome. Was it 8? No. Was it more than I thought I could do? Fuck yeah, 45kg felt hard warming up. Some days you need to just put your head down and go. Don't overthink, don't feel bad for yourself, don't talk yourself out of doing things, just do it. Domination, not competition. And if that's not on your mind when you're pursuing something you want, really what are you doing. #HeadDownEyesForward #EarnedNotGiven
