Consistently innovative and profoundly influential, the work of Cristóbal Balenciaga has fundamentally shaped the state of fashion today, and tomorrow - to mark the centenary of the opening of his first studio in San Sebastian, the V&A are launching an exhibition to honour the designer's legacy, looking at the house from its inception to the present day. ‘His work is very beautiful on the one hand, and a quirky oddity on the other,’ said the curator Cassie Davies-Strodder when we asked her what she most admires about Balenciaga.
