In the August 13, 1951 edition, LIFE published a "Romance in Photographic Fiction." - "On these pages LIFE presents, as a venture into photographic fiction, the story of a man and a girl falling in love. All of the pictures taken as they might have been seen through the eyes of the man. The captions were written as he himself might have spoken..." This image appears at the very end of the story with the following caption: "Near the end of summer, after we had been apart for many weeks, I met her unexpectedly at a beach with her new admirer. She was enjoying herself, I thought, all too obviously, and it was all too obvious to myself that I was still in love with her. Perhaps I always will be."
