The purpose of the expedition was to document the places in the Arctic where ice will disappear last, like the Thule region of Greenland, where I photographed this husky. In 20 years or less, much of the Arctic will be completely devoid of ice in the summer months and the vast sea ice highways that the Inuit use to travel with their dogs will be gone forever. When that day comes, the last hunters of the north will no longer be able to access the edge of the sea, where today, with the help of their huskies, they are still able to hunt for wild food.
