90 years ago, on May 20, 1927, 7:52 a.m., New York time, Charles Lindbergh was taking off aboard the “Spirit of St. Louis" for the first ever non-stop solo transatlantic flight. Longines, Official timekeeper for the World Air Sports Federation at the time, was there to certify and time this exploit.
This was the beginning of the story between the Swiss watch brand and the legendary American pilot, as Charles Lindbergh contacted Longines soon after to develop a watch allowing for accurate determination of the longitude during long-distance flights.
