?? Apercevez-vous le lion présent dans ce tableau ? Il figure dans l’ombre, à la droite de l’évangéliste saint Marc. #ValentinDeBoulogne réalisa ce tableau vers 1625 et par la suite le roi Louis XIV en fit l’acquisition. Peintre très célèbre en son temps, la réputation de Valentin arriva d’Italie jusqu’en France où il fut apprécié dès le XVIIe siècle. Ses œuvres « Saint Marc » et « Saint Mathieu » qui décoraient la chambre du roi à Versailles, sont présentées pour la première fois hors du @chateauversailles. Venez vite les (re)découvrir pendant les derniers jours de l’exposition qui lui est actuellement consacrée au Louvre, elle termine le 22 mai.

? ENG Can you see the lion in this painting? He is depicted in the shadow, on the right side of Saint Mark the Evangelist. Valentin de Boulogne realised this panting circa 1625 and later King Louis XIV of France bought it. Valentin attained great fame in his own lifetime, with word about him reaching France, where his art gained favor in the 17th century. His paintings of Saint Mark and Saint Matthew, which used to hang in the King’s bedchamber in Versailles, are on display outside palace walls for the first time. Come and (re)discover them during the last days of the exhibition dedicated to Valentin currently on display in the Louvre, it will end on May 22.
