Part(icle) physics: NOMOS rubies don’t only serve as bearings, but also help to keep everything ticking smoothly: Specialized grooves in the rubies—which can be seen with a loupe—turns these jewels into oil reservoirs. The oil can remain there for years, slowly releasing in minute drops to the pinions they hold. The number of rubies varies between NOMOS calibers: Alpha and DUW 4301 have 17, DUW 4101 and DUW 4401 have 23, and the automatic caliber DUW 5201 has 26. #nomosglashuette #rubies #watchmaking
