A Bald Eagle relaxes its feathers and splays its wings to dry off between rain showers on Unalaska Island in the Aleutians. With uncertainty overshadowing American politics, it has been comforting to spend time recently with our resilient national bird. The bald eagle is ultimately a survivor, making a massive population comeback in the US since the effects of pesticides and hunting landed them on the endangered species list in 1967. Today they are thriving, and the population continues to expand across the U.S.
