THE TALE OF THE TOP ? When I was designing my Spring 2017 collection last summer, I was feeling really uncertain about the future. Would we be living in a Hillary world or a Donald world when this collection was shipped? Well, we now know how it played out(?), but at the time, my uncertainty and fear had me craving something that would bring me comfort and security- I was drawn to pure, natural fabrics like cotton shirting. I wanted to take this fabric, normally used in men's dress shirts, and really make it my own. Create something sensual out of it. In this case, I wrapped the fabric around my torso and created a strapless peplum top- feminine and sexy, but so easy and comfortable to wear. When I am comfortable in my clothes I always feel confident. And the fact that I created something feminine and sculpted from this "Menswear" fabric made me feel empowered and strong.
