While we're on the subject of wonderful moms... Here's mine. We are standing in front of Château de Chenonçeau in the Loire River Valley in France, which I first visited with my 7th grade (public school!) French class. My family was not wealthy, but my mother made sure that we were exposed to culturally and educationally enriching experiences, even if that meant stretching the family budget. A couple years ago, I travelled to France again, this time for work, and brought my mom with me. It was just the tiniest way of sharing with her some of the fruits of her constant encouragement and unwavering faith in me and all of us kids, the way she nurtured us into independence and self-actualization, delights in even the tiniest of successes, and would literally drive cross-country to lift us out of a funky mood. Shouting out the greatest lady I know feels like a fitting coda to last night's episode of @Grey's Anatomy, and to end this Women's History Month and her birthday month. I love you, Mommy! ❤
