#seikostories courtesy of @john_carter_of_mars : "It all started with a black, water-resistant Looney-Toons 'Taz' watch when I was about 5 years old. After that, it was a limited edition White-Ranger Power Rangers watch around 6. When my parents got divorced and I went to live a state away, I had outgrown my Power Rangers watch pretty quickly and fittingly wore no watch at all for all the years I was separated from my Father. When I was 18 and finally heading off to college, we were re-united, and his gift to me was an Android Alien watch (a weird looking piece with two faces I had picked out myself). Upon graduating college, I wore a piece with a face that told time in reverse (again, an unusual request on my part that he obliged). And finally, when I finished my first film outside of film school, he bestowed upon me the brand I had always regarded with reverance -- the Seiko. My Father has only ever worn Seiko, and somehow I always equated wearing one to something akin to graduating to the next level of life. I've had this watch for a few years now, but it wasn't until I turned 30 that I started wearing it everyday. I don't know what it is or was about turning 30 but suddenly time means more to me than it ever has. My Father has bought me every watch I have ever owned, through every stage of my life. It's strange to think how I now permanently associate time with what it means to be a man...As children and adolescents, we want to believe time has no meaning, and that the world and future are ours for the taking...That's still true...we just have a finite resource to do it with...I look back on my 20s and think of how much time I wasted...and then I look down at my wrist today and think about how I will never make that mistake again. Time is precious. It's time that is the gift. Life is...chaos...but time...time is to be cherished. Use it wisely, friends...and wonderfully" #solarchronograph #seikostyle #time
