This is my #NBESCHAMPS story *Apologies for the long post and poor picture quality*
#FBF 2004 I was 15 competing at the English schools in Gateshead where I won my first and only English schools 100m title.
The year before I finished 3rd in a European age best time but was still disappointed.
My coach said to me would I have been happy had I won with a slower time and I said probably not because I wanted to win everything in the fastest time possible. Nevertheless when I did win in 2004 it was not a personal best at the time or a record breaking performance however the amount of joy and happiness that win brought me was amazing. I then realised it was all about the race on the day not the time or by how far I won.
It was that race that kick started a lot of junior success for me in competitions I was not favourite to win or where I hadn't won in the fastest time. This mentality has stuck with me and for that I'm thankful. follow @NewBalanceUK story on Instagram ???
