Back in the day, Carhartt, then called Hamilton Carhartt & Co., wasn’t originally started to sell clothing. When it was founded, the company sold men’s furnishing goods, defined by Ham as “everything a man wears except headgear, shoes, and clothes.” Hamilton’s previous success on his route through southern Michigan as a horse and carriage salesman put him in an excellent position to grow his new business and eventually explore expanded product offerings. #fromthevault #tbt
