This Women’s History Month we’re celebrating the women who broke boundaries in the outdoor world. Known as the grandmother of the conservation movement, Margaret "Mardy" Murie’s work helped to pass the Wilderness Act and create the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She was the recipient of the Audubon Medal, the John Muir Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom—the highest civilian honor awarded by the United States.
