They've evolved this way to better absorb energy from the sun. And their fur is clear to aid in this process, but looks white due to luminescence from the sun, which helps them to blend in with their snowy environment. Polar Bears are also so adapted to the cold that they can't take temperatures above 50 degrees. Climate change is the most serious threat to their habitat which they depend on to live and hunt, and due to the melting of arctic sea ice and its knock-off effects, it is disappearing.
