Photos and Video by @ジョン・スタンメイヤー | Across the historic Amu Darya River, also known as the Oxus River, the floating bridge that connects Qartau and Jumurtau villages each winter is effected by ice, requiring the bridge to be disconnected. Men in rowboats converge on the banks, ferrying passengers, often pushing their way over blocks of ice to cross. Around 500 villagers who work in Qaratau, Uzbekistan, cross the river commute twice a day, either by foot on the ice or row boat when the ice is moving.
